The search is universal across the compendium and covers its full contents, except the introductory pages (Homepage, Curator, Overview, Content, Context, Sources, and Bibliography). Search results are arranged according to the order of volumes, chapters, and articles. The representative thumbnails (tesserae) and their labels, linked to the actual database items are placed into the 5-rows-by-6-columns basic content gallery-grid which is expanded vertically by adding extra rows when needed. The search functionality supports Boolean Operators (and, or, not or and not) used as conjunctions to combine or exclude keywords in a search, resulting in more focused and productive results. The search functionality supports multiple keyword entries without Boolean Operators. The search functionality is flexible and tolerant: misspelled entries are not dismissed as erroneous but are acknowledged and carefully analyzed to offer the most plausible suggestions for further inquiry. |
