God of agriculture Balarama (the elder brother of god Krishna, the eighth avatara of god Vishnu), manifested as the avatara of the cosmic serpent Shesha, Adi Shesha or Shesha Ananta (Endless Remainder), depicted as the anthropomorphic nagaraja sporting the septocephalic cobra hood, holding hala (plough) in his left front hand, and accompanied by the anthropomorphic nagini (?) and surasundaris (celestial beauties), symbolically representing shakti (feminine cosmic energy).
