| Figure SSA-ind-059. The Twenty-Third (Penultimate) Jain Tirthankara (Ford-Maker) Parshvanatha (fl. 700s-600s BC?) holding his hands in dhyanamudra and sitting in padmasana (vajraparyankasana?) under the protective canopy of seven hooded cobra heads with the cranial gemstones of the yaksha-nagaraja Dharanendra (or his consort nagini Padmavati?). The Seventh Jain Tirthankara Suparshvanatha is also usually depicted under the protective canopy, but usually of five, not seven hooded cobra heads. |
