Figure EUR-ita-015. Helmeted goddess Athena (Minerva) standing beside an olive tree, wearing torso-aegis with snakes-fringe, carrying the aspis (hoplon?) shield and spear and resolutely confronting charging god of fire, metalworking, stone masonry, forges, and blacksmiths Hephaestus (Vulcan), carrying a blacksmith's hammer, with an undulating, rearing snake between them (the iconographic reference to the unsuccessful rape attempt, which lead to the surrogate birth of Erichthonius, the ophiomorphic king of Athens?).
