Figure EUR-vat-010. Colchian sorceress Medea, holding a short sword and escorting the breathless bodies of her and the Argonaut Jason's murdered children, lying in a biga, provided by Medea's grandfather, the sun-god Helios and drawn by two undulating, rearing, winged serpents. According to the alternative version of the story, after Jason's betrayal, Medea and her son Medus fled from Athens to the Iranian plateau in a similar vehicle and lived among the Aryans, who then changed their name to the Medes.
